Create a layer from scratch

A project layer (pipeline) is a grouping entity for security checks. System users can create new project layers or configure existing layers based on their assigned role.

Each project layer is linked to a project.

Project layers form a hierarchy. You can nest layers within other layers. The default maximum number of layers is 10, but you can change the maximum nesting depth when you deploy the system.

Layer parameters

Each project layer is represented as a separate hierarchy object and contains the following parameters:

  • Layer name;
  • Security check status—the overall status of the layer's checks. The following statuses are available:
    • Ready;
    • No runs yet;
    • Incomplete;
    • In progress;
    • Control failed;
    • Control passed;
  • Scan results for the selected layer;
  • Security issues for the selected layer;
  • Quality controls for the selected layer;
  • Start a new scan—starts a scan;
  • A list of security checks.

Create a project layer

To create a new project layer from scratch, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Projects section.
  2. Find the required project.
  3. Go to the project overview page.
  4. Go to the Project layer tab.
  5. Select Add layer.

      • orchestrator;
      • namespace;
      • service;
      • gateway;

      • container;
      • pod;
      • Docker;
      • storage;
      • database.
    • quality control—you can select one or more controls created earlier or create a new quality control.
  8. Add the required fields: you can select fields created earlier or create a new field.

For more information about creating quality controls and project fields, see Quality controls and Field builder.

  1. Select Create

After you create all the required project layers, you can add security checks. For more information, see Create a security check.
